The Gorf Contracting Ltd., has its beginning in 1960 with the establishment of its original company, the Normac Construction. In 1966, it formed the Gorf Contracting Ltd., providing services in the mining, lumber and power generation industries.

Through time the Gorf group of companies has strengthened its capabilities to deliver high quality of services. Today it has a field installation division, manufacturing division and heavy equipment division which give Gorf greater control in handling projects.

Its manufacturing office and shop facility was constructed in Porcupine in 1972, on 11 hectares of cleared land. The shop itself is 22,000 square feet; it is a pre-engineered building housing a fully equipped machine shop, welding, fabrication, metal shop and steel blasting and painting facilities as well as a carpenter shop.
